United Way of Saskatoon and Area has completed a "rough count" of the results of the 2012 Saskatoon Homeless Count, an event that saw more than 130 volunteers visiting shelters and outdoor areas to conduct surveys of people with no fixed address. A final report is scheduled for released in November 2012.
Rough Count. The rough count shows a total of 372 people were homeless in Saskatoon on September 24, 2012. A breakdown of the number shows:
- 103 people slept outdoors
- 269 people stayed in shelters, motels or transition housing
- 78 were children
